Occupational Therapy
Pediatric Occupational Therapy is a form of intervention in which the therapist and child work to develop or improve the necessary skills for daily living through activity. Therapy can target skills needed for: coordination, school readiness and performance, self help such as feeding, dressing and grooming, safety, focus and attention, play/social interaction, eye-hand coordination, calming and regulatory behaviors and more.
We use a variety of treatment approaches, one of which is sensory processing – the ability of the brain and the body to take incoming sensory information and create an efficient motor output. Our therapists will develop appropriate home activities and family education in addition to direct treatment for your child.
Our Occupational Therapists are here to help your child:
- Improve their sensitivity towards their environment
- Pay better attention
- Improve fine motor skills
- Improve gross motor skills
- Better calm themselves
- Keep better focus on their activities
- Improve play skills
- Develop socially
- Learn self care skills
- Be better able to function independently
- Better transition in a changing environment
Treating your child includes examining, evaluating, and assessing the areas in which your child may have difficulty functioning and then incorporating activities to address these areas. After examining your child, our professional therapists will make an evaluation of their findings using a combination of standardized tests, observations, and/or clinical expertise.
